TravelScoot in a 2013 Ford C-Max hybrid

From Julie:

I just wanted to show you how my Scoot fits in the hatchback of my 2013 Ford C-Max hybrid.  I love your blog and how you are sharing everyone's great experiences.

Going to the Polling Station in Belper, Derbyshire, England

From Jed in Belper, Derbyshire, England:

Well, TravelScoot got me to the Polling Station today with no trouble. It's a quarter of a mile up, a hill like the side of a house.

I made sure the battery was fully charged but I really didn't think it would make it, but it ground steadily up there.  The Polling Station is up behind the church in the picture.

My TravelScoot Meets My SUV

This great video was done by new TravelScoot owner Harry Marks.

Harry wrote, "The brilliant little but powerful TravelScoot weighs only around 30 lbs, but it posed a bit of a problem loading into my SUV. The problem is solved with a pair of very lightweight plastic ramps - available from Amazon.com."

The ramps are Solvit 62332 UltraLite Bi-Fold Pet Ramps.  They weigh 10 lbs and support 200 lbs.  Click here to see them on Amazon.com.

From Dean, our world traveler!

Dean says to note they had a ramp and everyone was helpful.

TravelScoots from Las Vegas to Europe, including a river cruise

From Carol and Peri in Las Vegas:

We took our two new TravelScoots to Europe via American Airlines from Las Vegas to Dallas, then to Ft. Lauderdale. We boarded RCCL Independence of the Sea for our transatlantic cruise. Arrival at Southampton UK.  Took the scenic tour to Salbury Stonehedge and Winsor castle, scooting all the way. TravelScoot thru British museum. TravelScoots high speed train London to Amsterdam. Boarded Avalon Illumination maiden voyage, a 13 day river cruise from Amsterdam to Vienna. TravelScoot thru small cobblestone villages along the way. Never a problem with American Airlines, very professional. All the tour buses, hotels, cruises, taxi cabs, all took our TravelScoots. Avalon river cruise carried our scoots up the ramps and even stored them for us. They had them ready in the lobby for us for every walking tour. They carried the scoots off and on the river ship. What a great staff!!!!!

Melissa at Costco

We just got a new Costco in Baton Rouge.  Here's Melissa on her first trip there, pulling a buggy out to her van.  She has a Peterboro basket on her scoot, but the TV she bought didn't quite fit in it.
What I really enjoyed was being able to go up and down every single aisle in Costco.  I even went down some twice.  I just could never have done that without my scoot.

TravelScoot in Honda Odyssey

I have a new way of loading my TravelScoot into my Honda Odyssey minivan.  My hubby removed the seat behind the driver's seat.  This way I don't have to lift the scoot as high as I would to put it in the back of the van.

I start by leaning the scoot back on the rear wheels, and putting the front wheel into the van, like this:

Then I pick the scoot up by the back of the seat and lift it in.  This keeps me from having to lift the whole weight of the scoot at once.  I've been doing it this way for months now and it's working really well.

TravelScoot Repair Resources

Welcome to Mimi, a new TravelScooter:

Thank you for creating and maintaining your blog.  It helped me decide to go ahead and get a TravelScoot and while it is still very new to me, it already feels like a life-changer at a challenging time.

I don't know anyone else in my state who owns a TravelScoot (although I know several folks in CA who do -- and they LOVE them!).  I want to be prepared in case of damage or maintenance needs.  I'm not at all handy, so I'd love to find a shop near me that might be able to handle the kinds of small repairs I might expect from regular use.

Do you (or any of your readers) know of any repair shop resources in Massachusetts?

Thank you!

TravelScooters on the Go!

From Keith:

We just got back from a Panama relocation cruise.  We went on a snorkel and boat tour in Huatulco and the TravelScoot came along.  Pardon the picture of me but I don’t have one with a shirt on.  Anyways, thought you might get a kick out of another unusual place the Travelscoot has gone.

From Dean:

Dean says his scoot wants to grow up and be a tank, and here's the picture to prove it!

Retirement

This is from Lynn Ellen, who is describing a recent adventure she had with her friend Pat:

Pat and I each did our physical therapy workout at the Albany Pool and then got on our scooters and proceeded to go a mile up Solano and then return on the other side of the street, stopping for lunch, yarn, a haircut (Pat), coffee~and at Peet's, a quick food shop, a visit to a store with amazing Native American goods, another stop at the yarn store, and then back to the car. It took four hours round trip, the sun was warm, the air cool, the sky intense blue and the cotton puff clouds exquisite. It has been a number of years since I've walked two miles like that and while I wasn't walking, I was getting fresh air, using and building core strength on my TravelScoot, visiting with shop keepers and it was utterly fulfilling. THIS is what I've wanted from retirement.
