Carrying a cane with your TravelScoot

There is a cup near the footrests on the TravelScoot designed to hold a cane or crutches.  In the picture above you can see how Rhonda has tricked out her scoot to hold the cane in place near the top of it.  That's an elastic headband she's doubled over to make it work.  It's decorated with an embroidered button from Karen's Creations.

Below is a close-up.  (The dark spots you see on the silver part of the TravelScoot is not rust. It's the residue from a Velcro experiment gone bad.  It's a sticky mess but can be removed.)

  1. Does the placement of Rhonda's cane make it hard to apply the brakes? I tend to just prop mine on the fabric carrier between my legs because it has caused trouble every place else I've tried it.

  3. Rhonda and I scooted around for hours yesterday and the cane didn't seem to cause any problems.

  4. Linda, it looks like it would but for some reason doesn't. When I apply the brake, the cane slips over out of the way. The bungee is not as tight as it looks. I used a hairband that is quite flexible. Also, I tend to brake with my right hand more than my left because of problems with my left hand.

  5. I put my cane in the center so its out of the way of the break handles.

I love your headband makeover, the button is fab.

  6. Cynth, it never occurred to me to try to put it in the middle. Tomorrow, while I am trying to get the velcro goo off of the steering column, I'll try to place it in the middle to see if it holds as well.
